The ‘AOK Mein Leben’ app is the central location for your electronic health record and other digital health applications. Find out what functions it has and how to register here.

What is the AOK Mein Leben app?

‘AOK Mein Leben’ is a central health app for AOK policyholders. It offers you, as a policyholder, a secure and convenient way to view your health data at a glance, manage it and share it with medical professionals treating you – either via your smartphone or tablet. For example, you can access digital health services, view your electronic patient file (ePA) and redeem e-prescriptions at the pharmacy.

The functions and content of the app

By registering in the app, you will have direct and secure access to your electronic health records (EHRs). Other health services are also available here to make your everyday life easier:

  • E-prescriptions: Doctors can create digital prescriptions if required. You can view these in the app and also redeem them digitally at a pharmacy.
  • Medication: This function gives you a good overview of your medication at all times. If necessary, you can set a reminder to take your medication.
  • Other services: You can also use the app to register your willingness to donate organs and tissue in the national organ donation registry, organise a substitute for relatives, store an emergency ID including emergency contacts, plan doctor's visits and preventive care appointments, and document your vaccination status.
  • You can also forward the information to the AOK Ident app to create and view your health ID.

The more information you store in the app and the EPR about your state of health, the more reliably your doctors can provide treatment recommendations and medical care.

Registration and login: this is how it works!

  1. Download the app to your mobile device:

  2. Open the ‘AOK Mein Leben’ app. First, you will be shown an introduction to the functions of the ‘AOK Mein Leben’ app.
  3. In the next step, confirm your membership. You will find the information required for this on your electronic health card (eGK). To do this, select your AOK and enter your insurance number (it always starts with a capital letter, followed by a total of 9 digits).
  4. Use your health ID for secure and reliable registration in the ‘AOK Mein Leben ’ app. To register this, you need another app, the ‘AOK Ident’ app. During registration, you will be redirected here from the ‘AOK Mein Leben’ app. Your identity will be verified securely. If you do not have the ‘AOK Ident’ app installed, you can also download it at this point when you first use it. Enter your email address and read the data protection information and consent to the user account and agree. You cannot continue the registration process without consent. The address will be used for your registration. You will receive a confirmation code by email that is valid for 30 minutes. Enter this code in the corresponding field in the app.

  5. Set your health ID code: After this one-time registration, you can always log in to the ‘AOK Mein Leben’ app with the 6-digit code of your health ID. You will be taken to the dashboard, where you will see all the services available to you.
  6. In the next step, select whether you want to use the code or biometrics to log in.
  7. The identification process then follows. Here you can choose between the electronic health card, the health ID and the PostIdent procedure.
  8. Finally, you will be asked again whether you would like to use the convenient biometric/fingerprint features for the ‘AOK Mein Leben’ app. Then you agree to the data transfer and are redirected to the app.

Activation of the electronic health record in the ‘AOK Mein Leben’ app

ePA registration:

After successfully registering in the app, you, as a (first-time) user, must initially activate your ePA. This is easily done by clicking on the ‘electronic patient file’ tile in your app. After that, the ePA is available for you to use. You can read here what can be stored in the ePA.
